What makes SOF special?

The Special Forces Group is an organization that attracts exceptional talent and is driven by the intrinsic motivation of its members in a never-ending pursuit of excellence with the unbreakable will to succeed.

People don’t join the unit because WE are special but because THEY are.
The Special Forces culture stands for high-class values, moral principles and an exceptional work ethic lived by all of its members.

Ego’s and personal ambition give way to group dynamics and community spirit.
The units’ intensity and drive is contagious, which makes the sum greater than the whole of its parts.

Being special is really not just about what you do. But it is about how you do it.

Special Forces assess and select people who look at problems as a challenge and who are willing to find solutions from a perspective that is unusual or different, who have the courage and the relentless determination, the uncommon will to succeed in the face of adversity, and who understand the political and strategic implications of their tasks.

But ‘special’ forces are like Swiss Army knives—they do many things well, and they are ready to handle whatever complex problem comes along. They are proactive in understanding the problems and have the courage to tackle a problem as soon as it appears.
SOF do not expect others to find a solution or solve their problem. They take responsibility and accept the workload and sacrifice to reach the goal.

Elitist thinking is forbidden for a SF operator because the pursuit of excellence is an attitude.

It is not the equipment that SOF employs what makes them special; it is how they use in ways unexpected by their adversaries.

Humans are more important than hardware.
Quality is better than Quantity.
SOF cannot be mass-produced.
Competent SOFcannot be created after emergencies occur.
Most special operations requires non-SOF support.
